What we treat?
Symptoms that bring patients to the vestibular disorders clinic include vertigo, unsteadiness, disequilibrium, and light-headedness. Fainting or loss of consciousness is not usually associated with the vestibular system. Hearing loss may be an associated symptom. Some of the common disorders diagnosed and treated in the section include:
- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV): BPPV can result in abrupt, intense vertigo reproducible with head position change.
- Meniere’s disease: It is an association of more prolonged episodes of vertigo with fluctuating hearing impairment.
- Labyrinthitis disease: Labyrinthitis is a viral inflammation of the inner ear leading to vertigo lasting for weeks associated with hearing loss.
